Blog Post 8: Content Rich Website
A content rich website, simply put, is a website with a lot of information on it, but a good content rich website has information for all kinds of unique visitors in a clear and visually appealing way.
I think that TripAdvisor is a perfect example of a good content rich website. The goal of TripAdvisor's brand and website is to help people become better travelers, from planning to booking to taking a trip.
In terms of content, the TripAdvisor website has anything you could possibly need to book a trip or simply find something to do in your city. There is user-generated content, reviews, for every place you can thing of- restaurants, museums, hotels, etc. TripAdvisor also partners with others to provide more comprehensive content, like travel guides such as Black-owned guide to Barbados.
Like I mentioned, a lot of content isn't always necessarily good. TripAdvisor brings their enormous amount of content together into user-friendly lists and recommendations. For their Traveler's Choice 2023, they highlight the highest user-rated Destinations, Beaches, Hotels, Restaurants, and Things to do of the previous year.
TripAdvisor also tailors the content to the specific user. Since I'm accessing the website from the St. Louis area, they've given me links to tours that involve or are located in St. Louis.
TripAdvisor also offers quizzes, like Discover the best things to do on spring break, which helps them recommend "personalized things to do you’ll love—like traveler-backed tours, excursions, and more"
Overall, TripAdvisor shows that it's possible to have a ton of content while still making it easy to access and relevant to the user.
